If you are writing about story coaching, please include a brief note about where you are in the process.

You may have a completed draft, a few chapters, an outline, a vague idea, a character, a setting, a memory, or only the long-standing desire to write a novel. Any of those can be a legitimate place to begin.

In your message, it helps if you include:

• what kind of story you think you may be writing,
• where you are in the process,
• whether you have a draft, outline, idea, character, setting, or question,
• what you are struggling with,
• what kind of help you think you need.

You do not need to send a manuscript with your first message.

A simple note is enough to begin.

I read every message, though I may not always be able to respond immediately.
